Publication Ethics

Ethical guidelines:

Ethical considerations must be addressed in the Materials and Methods section. 1) In the case of clinical trials: Authors should comply with the clinical trial registration statement from the ICMJE. More information can be found at WWW.icmje.org. Clinical trial reports should also comply with the consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) and include a flow diagram presenting the enrollment, intervention allocation, follow – up, and data analysis with number of subjects for each (www.consort – statement.org). Please also refer specifically to the CONSORT Checklist of items to include when reporting a randomized clinical trial.

2) When reporting experiments on human subjects, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional and national) and with the last update of Helsinki Declaration (http://www.icmje.com). If doubt exists whether the research was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration, the authors must explain the rationale for their approach, and demonstrate that the institutional review body explicitly approved the doubtful aspects of the study.

3) Indicate in the text that the maintenance and care of experimental animals complies with National Institutes of Health guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals, or those of your Institute or agency.
